Species Profiles
What needs to be done to help save threatened and endangered butterflies in the US? The Xerces Society prepared the following Species Profiles for the Butterfly Conservation Initiative. These profiles - for endangered, threatened, and vulnerable butterfly species in the U.S. - comprise a single - source summary of life history and recovery needs for North America's most imperiled butterflies, outlining specific activities necessary for population recovery.
These species profiles were originally published in July 2003. In May 2005, the Xerces Society published their online "Red List of Pollinator Insects of North America" that includes profiles on additional vulnerable butterflies in the US and listed butterflies in Canda. Be sure to visit both sites!
